Advanced Individual Therapy Practicum 2010-2011

The Contemporary Gestalt Institute of Cincinnati is offering an advanced practicum in individual therapy.

Eligibility: Those who have successfully completed at least one year of training at the Contemporary Gestalt Institute of Cincinnati or an equivalent training experience.

Format: The format will be similar to the practicum used in the basic 1st year program. We will meet in a group of 3 or 4 students with a faculty member. Each session, every student will have one opportunity to work as a therapist with his/her work critiqued. (S)he will also do his/her own work as a client, as well as having one or two opportunities to process observations of others' work. Each person will work with the same client throughout the year (for ten sessions). We have found that this most allows the growth of a therapy experience. Over time, issues arise and can be worked on in a manner that most closely approximates the usual therapy situation.

Meeting Time: The program will meet for eleven (11) sessions. The last session will be designed to polish the needs of the group members as they emerge during the first 10 sessions. The program will meet for three hours once every three weeks or so. We will start in October, 2009 and go through May. 2010. The specific time and day will depend upon participants' schedules.

CEUs: The program has been approved for 33 Continuing Education credits for psychologists, social workers and counselors.

Fee: The eleven session program will cost $735.
